Setting out from downtown Skagway, you will drive 10 scenic miles along the coastal road to the head of the Chilkoot Trail in Dyea, an abandoned Gold Rush town, now National Park.
On your hike, you will retrace the steps of the Gold Rush stampeders on the famous Chilkoot Trail, hiking the first 2 miles through a green moss-covered northern temperate rainforest over uneven, hilly terrain (elevation gain 300 feet) for the first mile, then on mostly flat ground for the remainder. You will learn of gold rush and natural history and have time for taking photos.
At the end of the one-way hike you will meet with the raft and suit up for a relaxing river float on the tranquil Taiya River. Along with your group of never more than 10 guests, you will sit back and let your guide do the paddling. As you float along, After the rafting, enjoy a riverside snack.
